Private Tours

Sing Sing Prison Museum offers private walking tours and onsite lectures. Please review the walking tour information below before filling out the inquiry form, and someone will reach out to you shortly.

Walking tour information:

Tours take place rain or shine and will begin at Louis Engel Waterfront Park, adjacent to the Ossining Metro North station. We will walk along the Hudson River and around the edges of Sing Sing Correctional Facility. Learn about the building of the 1825 original cell block, the quarrying of Sing Sing marble, and the origin of the US penal philosophy and design. We will also discuss the labor that built this place, products developed here, and some innovative examples of reform and rehabilitation. The tour will end with a reflective art making project to link us back to what being incarcerated might mean to our own lives, and the legacy of this place and the Hudson River School. Content can be adjusted to align with curriculum goals for teachers/students.
  • The tour costs $15 per person; pre-registration is required.
  • Max 25 people per tour (multiple guides are available to increase tour groups). Minimum 12 people or a payment of $250 to book a group tour. Otherwise, please consider our public tour options HERE.
  • Recommended for audiences ages 12 and up.
  • We meet next to the public boat launch in Louis Engel Waterfront Park. Parking is available, and it is in easy walking distance of the Metro North train platform.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before tour start.
  • The tour is 1 hour plus a 30-minute reflection activity and discussion. Large groups should leave more time for times starts, restroom use and logistics.
  • Good walking shoes, water bottles, and sun screen is recommended.
